The Tonight Show to Air Hamilton Performance Number Filmed in Puerto Rico

first_img In conjunction with Lin-Manuel Miranda’s 24 performances of Hamilton in Puerto Rico, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon has announced the airing of a special episode, filmed on the island, on January 15, 2019. The episode will include a rare Hamilton performance of a song featuring Miranda and the new touring cast.The telecast will focus on the spirit and culture of Puerto Rico in its efforts to rebuild and raise awareness following the hurricane that struck the U.S. territory on Sept. 20, 2017. While the telecast will detail how Hurricane Maria caused widespread damage, it will also offer up a partylike atmosphere to the island that has long been known for fun and celebration.As previously announced, Tony-winning scribe and original star Miranda will reprise his turn in the title role of Hamilton from January 8-27 at the University of Puerto Rico to raise money for the Flamboyan Arts Fund. Tina Alexander of Life Ministries (file photo)The first activity under the ‘Stamp Out Gender Based Violence’ Campaign will take place at the Castle Bruce Primary School from 3.00 – 5.00 on Sunday 29 January 2017.This campaign is organized by the NGO Coalition for the Protection of Children and youth, which is made up of seventeen non-government organizations, and is supported by the Bureau of Gender Affairs.The ‘Stamp Out Gender Based Violence’ Campaign where the seventeen organizations that make up the Coalition are heading to various districts across Dominica to explain the meaning of the new bill that was passed in 2016 amending the Sexual Offences Act.“The NGO Coalition is working with the Girl Guides to put on a town hall meeting where we will be looking at the amendments to the Sexual Offences Act and we will be encouraging the Girl Guides to ask questions as to what is grooming, where should they go if they want to make a report about sexual offences,” Current Chair of the NGO Coalition, Tina Alexander said.A representative of the British High Commission, Ed Munn, will be in attendance and make brief remarks, as this agency has been the funder of the Lifeline Victim Support Programmes over the past three years.There will also be an opportunity for participants to paint their feet to say that they stand in solidarity to stamp out gender-based violence. Farmington Schools students receive National Merit scholarships

Tanoli recently received $2,500 National Merit Scholarships.Sullivan plans to attend the University of Alabama, majoring in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering as a member of the Randall Research Scholars Program. Tanoli will work toward a career in medicine.“I am planning on going to Wayne State University, majoring in Neuroscience, and plan to go to medical school in the future,” he said.Timothy Sullivan (Contributed)“I’m honored to receive a National Merit Scholarship,” Sullivan said. “I am grateful to have the North Farmington community behind me as I further my education at the University of Alabama, where I will be studying Materials Engineering as a member of the Randall Research Scholars. As a four-year member of the Farmington United Ski Team, I will miss Michigan immensely and I hope to return after completing my degree.”The 2,500 Merit Scholar designees were chosen from a talent pool of more than 15,000 outstanding Finalists in the 2020 National Merit Scholarship Program. These winners were finalists in each state, judged to have the strongest combination of accomplishments, skills, and potential for success in rigorous college studies.These Scholars were selected by a committee of college admissions officers and high school counselors, who reviewed submissions by both the finalists and their high schools: the academic record, including difficulty level of subjects, studied and grades earned; scores from the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®); contributions and leadership in school and community activities; an essay written by the finalist; and a letter of recommendation written by a high school official. High school baseball: Airline, Bossier pick up non-district victories

first_imgThe Airline Vikings and Bossier Bearkats won non-district games Wednesday. Airline defeated West Monroe 12-10 on the road. Bossier downed Summerfield 13-3 in six innings at Rusheon. Airline scored seven runs in the fourth to take a 12-1 lead. But West Monroe answered with six in the bottom of the inning. The Rebels added three more in the sixth to make it 12-10. Jon-Mikal Robertson went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBI. Chase Bounds went 3-for-5 with a double. At Rusheon, seven Bearkats combined for 13 hits. At West Monroe, Chris Lutterman and Will Tynes had two hits each for Airline. Lutterman had two RBI.
